Good Morning,
Homework and Upcoming activities New Books have been sent home in homework books. - Terry Fox Walk will be Wednesday. (Hopefully the weather will be nice to us). The school is not fundraising this year because of Covid-19 but if you wanted to send in $2 with your child, this money will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. - 2020 Legion Remembrance Contest Information was sent home. We will be doing one as a class as well. There are cash prizes. Information is in Communication Folders. Rocks Our class painted rocks last week. I have sprayed them this morning with sealer. I will be hiding them around the westside after all the rain this week. We have a map where we will be recording the location of our rocks. I have placed my email on the rocks. I am hoping the community will tell us where are rocks have been re-hidden. It may work, it may not. If you want to paint rocks at home and send them in or hide them in the community, please let me know and I can add them to our map. They have cute French sayings on the back. FILA - Main focus will be finishing the food groups and completing our good copy of our writing project. - Last week we introduced sounds "i" and "o" and this week will be "b" and "c(k)". Normally, we would be going faster with sounds as these are grade 1 sounds. I feel most students are struggling with sounds, so we will be taking our time. Going back to the basics and making sure we have a solid foundation. :) Math - We continue with our number of the day. Monday is the 13th day of school. We are focusing on counting by 2 to 20, odd and even and place value. Counting from 1-100 is done daily in a variety of different ways. Please reach out of you have any questions or concerns.

GOOD AFTERNOON PARENTS,
I JUST WANTED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A FEW UPDATES. JE LIS, JE LIS, IS NOW AVAILABLE TO OUR CLASS. I LAMINATED AND SENT HOME THE USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS ON WEDNESDAY. THIS WEBSITE JUST GIVES THE STUDENTS A DIFFERENT FORM OF READING. THE STUDENTS FROM LAST YEAR REALLY LIKED IT. 🙂 TERRY FOX WALK WILL BE TAKING PLACE SEPTEMBER 30TH. COULD YOU SEND EXTRA SOCKS WITH YOUR CHILD. THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME DOWN IN THE FEILD DURING RECESS AND THE GENERAL COMPLAINT HAS BEEN WET SOCKS. I DO HAVE SPACE IN THE CLASSROOM TO STORE THEM. IF YOU JUST WANT TO PLACE THEM IN A BAG WITH THIER NAME, THAT WOULD BE PERFECT. WEEK 2- HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS WILL BE SENT HOME WITH STUDENTS ON MONDAY. NEW BOOKS WILL BE SENT HOME ON MONDAY. EACH STUDENT HAS BEEN ASSESSED, SO BOOKS SHOULD NOW BE AT THIER READING LEVEL. WE HAVE MOVED ON FROM VEGETABLES AND FRUITS AND ARE NOW LOOKING AT MEATS AND ALTERNATIVES. STUDENTS ARE FOCUSING ON LANGUAGE AND FRENCH STRUCTURES. THERE IS ALSO BE A BIG FOCUS ON WORD WORK AND GUIDED READING THIS WEEK. WITH SUCH A SMALL GROUP I CAN SEE EACH STUDENT FOUR TIMES A WEEK. MATH: THE FOCUS THIS WEEK IS PLACE VALUE. WE WILL BE LOOKING AT TENS AND ONES AND REPRESENTING A NUMBER IN MULTIPLE WAYS. THE SCHEDULE HAS BEEN UPDATED ON THE WEBSITE. WE HAD ADDED LIBRARY AND MOVED AROUND SNACK TIMES TO AVOID EATING 30 MINUTES AFTER ARRIVAL. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND. 🙂 |
