Good Afternoon,
What a day! I just wanted to reach out and thank all the parents who took part in our Halloween celebration. Whether it was dressing your little darling this morning or sending in treats for the kids. I really appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes at home to make these celebrations a success. I do want to inform you what I feed your children. This afternoon they had hot chocolate (chocolate milk heated in a slow cooker) and some butter free/ salt free popcorn. It was the healthiest I could find. There were some treat sent home. I told every student to show their adult before eating anything. The bags are specialized depending on allergies and sensitives. There are some apples and granola bars. The rest are school related supplies (pencil, erasers). I hope you all have a great Halloween!! I would also like to congratulate Olivia Carhart and Conner Green receiving Student of the Month and Soaring Student. Congratulations!!!!

A folder called the “Assessment Folder” will be sent home Monday in the homework bag. It will include most of the assessment material and will give you an idea of how your child is doing. If you see something that is concerning, do not panic. A lot of these outcomes need to be reached by the end of the school year. Just sign your name title page and you can also indicate any concerns you have. Reminder: Halloween costumes may be worn on Thursday. Please no weapons or full masks. 😊 I will also be having a small Halloween party Thursday afternoon. Reminder: There is no school Friday Oct.30th High Frequency Words: This week we will be doing fun high frequency words. They will be related to Halloween, we will be practicing them daily. I will post another video of myself reading the words, they are located under the tap “High Frequency words”. Have a great weekend! With Covid-19 and the cancellation of many activities, the school has decided to allow students to wear their Halloween costumes on Oct. 29th. It will create excitement and will be perfect as I am throwing them a little party during the afternoon on the same day. We ask that costumes be appropriate for school (no weapons) and no face masks as we need to be able to see their eyes. I will help keep track of costumes but there is only one of my and 14 students. I will try my best to send everything home but some items may be misplaced. I have extra costumes at home if you are not able to provide one. :)
Happy Halloween!!! We had another jam packed week. Apple picking was a success! Today was our annual apple day. We made apple sauce (which the kids liked) with the apples from yesterday.
There have been changes to the to School Calendar. There is now a PD day on Friday October 30th. There will be no school for students. I will send an updated calendar in the homework bags on Monday. In the event that schools are closed because of Covid-19, the district has purchased a platform called TEAMS. I have linked my website to TEAMS. More information will be coming home with students on Monday. (Passwords and user names) Good afternoon and Happy Thanksgiving,
After alot of reseach and many meetings we have finally figured out how to take the grade 2 students apple picking. We will be going Apple Picking this Thursday October 15th. We will be leaving the school at 9 am and travelling on a bus to McKays apple orchard. We are looking for a couple parent volunteers. All the grade 2 classes will be going but all the classes will be kept seperate as we will still be respecting social distancing. Parents must wear a mask at all times and will not travel on the bus. Please let me know if this is something you are interested it. Thank you :) Andrea Good Morning,
I have uploaded the first video for the weekly high frequency words. The video can be found under "High Frequency Words", Enjoy! Good Afternoon,
Another great week at IVS. This week we were focused on finishing our first unit on healthy eating. They have now gone through all the food groups. We will be starting "What do you do to stay in good health" on Monday. This will breakdown into 3 sub units (home, school, and community). We will continue with new sounds this week (D, CH, AN, and è). New words are coming home Monday. They are all Thanksgiving related. They are not our normal words but are great for fluency and conversation. Math: We are moving away from place value and on to doubles and tally marks. Number of the day is going strong and routine is being created in the classroom. I will be creating files with the high frequency words. I will read the words and your child can follow along. There was been concerns from several parents that they are not sure they are pronouncing the words correctly. This file will be located on my website. Terry Fox walk was today. They did amazing. Thank you for all those parent who sent in money. The classed raised $24. Please send extra socks, the soccer field is very wet. Have a great weekend, Andrea |
