Happy Wednesday!
Here is some important information. 1) 100th day of school will be on FRIDAY! It has been moved around because of snow days. Students can wear a sweater with 100 things, or they can dress like a 100-year-old. There will be some fun 100-day activities and some surprises. 🙂 2) Milk orders for the month of March are due February 21st. You can find the information on Cashless Schools. http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/Pages/CashlessSchools.aspx 3) Our Hamster is looking to spend some weekends with students. If you are interested, let me know. (No pressure, only if you want to have a furry friend for the weekend) 4) Homework this week is different: the list of high frequency words will be used this week and next week. Two days is not enough time to practice. There is also no math homework as 2 days would not be enough. I will be giving a review math sheet on Monday. 4) February 24th - Pink Shirt Day 5) February 26th- Care Assembly 6) March 1-5 - March Break 7) The black assessment folder will be coming home on Monday. Please sign the front page and return. It will give you a better idea of how your child is doing. 🙂 If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Hello,
Tomorrow is the much anticipated "Hamster" day. Tonight I will be picking up our new classroom friend. I checked to make sure that allergies were not a problem. If you have any concerns, please let me know. I am looking for parents who are willing to take our friend home for a long weekend. I have a very excited 3 year old, who can't wait to babysit so do not feel obligated. I do ask that you pick up and drop off the hamster. School buses don't like to take rodents. :) Hamster comes with all needed materials and I will clean out the cage before and after his trip. Please email me if you would like to share your home with a hamster. First come first serve. Don't all jump at once :) Here are some available dates: February 26th - March 8 March 19th - March 22nd April 1st- April 6th May 6th to May 11th May 21st to May 25th Good morning parents, I just wanted to update you on a couple things :) - Snow pants: The rule in my class has always been, if your adult sends you snow pants, you will wear them. I find this to be the easiest way to police the outdoor gear problem. If you feel differently, please send me a note and I will make sure to fulfil your wishes. Even with the lack of snow, the wind is very cold. - Class Birthday Party: Thank you to all the parents who contributed to our "Orange Phase Birthday Celebration". We have had 4 students who have celebrated their 7th/8th birthdays in the orange phase. I understand that birthday parties are very important. Friday afternoon we had a little celebration for Connor, Lily, Olivia, and Eleanor. They were so excited! I will post pictures. - Homework : You may have noticed that I have added a math component to the homework bags. This work should be a review. If not, please let me know and I will review the outcome with your child. Also, weekly words have been posted under the High Frequency Words Tab. Please review doubles with you child (1+1, 2+2). - Orange/Red Phase: I just want you to know that I am prepared to go to online if needed. We have been doing a lot of training and we are ready. If we go to red and students stay in the classroom, we are prepared for that as well. Your child's safety is my main concern and if school are open, they will be safe. :) Happy Welcome to 2021!
I hope you all had a great holiday season with your family! - This Friday January 15th we will be having a Birthday Party. It is to celebrate the 4 birthdays that have/are taking place in the orange phase. It will be a short celebration in the afternoon but it will have all the normal birthday themes (decorations, snacks, games, and prizes). The students we are celebrating this month are Connor, Lily, Olivia, and Eleanor. Happy Birthday! - The new high frequency words will be posted on the website, I apologize for last week. My Youtube account didn't want to cooperate. (It still wanted to be on vacation) - Math homework will be coming home tonight. It is a graph, it is in English to help with any language barriers. Math homework will now be given every Monday but a due date of Friday. It should not take more than 15 minutes in total. If it is taking longer, please let me know. - I want to celebrate Isabelle and Eleanor for being our students of the month! Way to go! January 29- Care Assembly February 1- was suppose to be a PD but it was moved to earlier in the year. Feb. 1st is a normal school day. February 14- Afternoon celebration of Valentine's Day February 15- Family Day February 24th- Pink Shirt Day Holiday Spirt Week, Dec. 14th – 18th:

Friday – Holiday Jammies Hello parents, some of you were asking about tutoring. Here is the information for FREE tutoring. You do have to pay a $25 fee but you get $125 worth of tutoring.
Here is the email I received: Hi Andrea, There are a few ways we can help out when it comes to tutoring. First thing is that the parent(s) of the student(s) must be (a) current CPF NB member(s). The fee is $25 annually and they can register on our site www.cpfnb.org We can pay an individual to tutor a child outside of school hours to a max of 5 sessions or $125. Here is a link to our site where there is a little more information and link to the application form: https://www.cpfnb.org/free-tutoring Once we have approved the application we will then have the approved tutor report to us by submitting a form after each session. Once this form is submitted a payment is issued within 24-48 business hours. Good Morning, Thank you all for your patience during parent/teacher. We had no problems with technology! It was fantastic. Please don't be a stranger. If you want to chat, please reach out. It doesn't have to be parent/teacher to have a chat. If there is a problem in the classroom, I will reach out to you. Tomorrow is crazy hat day in support of Romero House. Here are some important updates: - Our class will be recording our Christmas Concert on Monday December 14th at 10:05am. This is not a live event but the school is trying to figure out a way to stream the performance to parents at a later date. If your child wants to wear something special for the Christmas concert, today (Dec.14th) would be the day. :) - I have recorded the words for this week. They are the same as last week. There is a spelling error. I think my keyboard was in English when I printed the lists. I have looked at all future lists and there are no errors. I do apologize. The word is Hier. Next week will be Christmas words and they will not be tested but practiced a lot in class. - December 17th is our "Santa's Workshop". For those who are new to IVS, each year our Home and School puts on an amazing day full of Christmas activities in the gym. Obviously, we can not do that this year. That being said, I have recreated the same events in our classroom. We will be making ornaments, Hot Chocolate playdough, playing math related Christmas games, etc. If you are planning to send anything in for students, this would be the day. (Only for parents who wish) - We have started our class Christmas float. The students picked a gingerbread theme. I will share photos when complete. Our float is on a small piece of wood (6in/16in) that will be pulled throughout the school on webcam. This will be a little virtual school parade for the students. :) - School photos should be in any day now. - December 18th: Last day for students and it is a full day. |
